The Definition : A giclee (pronounced 'zhee clay', a French word meaning 'to spray') is a fine art print of an original artwork. Our giclees are printed on Epson Enhanced Matte paper using an Epson Stylus Pro 7800 printer.

The Term : The term "giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.

The Quality : The quality of the giclee prints are commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.

The Market : Numerous examples of giclee prints can be found in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries. Recent auctions of giclee prints have fetched $10,800 for Annie Leibovitz, $9,600 for Chuck Close, and $22,800 for Wolfgang Tillmans (April 23/24 2004, Photographs, New York, Phillips de Pury & Company.)

Our Giclee Prints : Rich, vibrant colors will not fade for over 100 years (framed under UV filtering glass) - unframed they will last at least 45 years before any noticeable fading occurs. Every image is offered in a variety of sizes from 11" x 14" to 23" x 30". Our Giclee prints are shipped un-framed so you can select matting and framing to suit your tastes. Giclee prints are slipped in a clear, protective sleeve, then shipped to you rolled in a tube. We recommend that you take your giclee out of the tube and store it flat if you do not plan to mat and frame it right away.
